Getting into Transport and Logistics
The Australian Transport and Logistics (T&L) industry is responsible for the way Australia moves products, services and people. It focuses on how we move products from the farm or factory through packing houses and dry or cold storage (with a good percentage of it being imported via our ports and airports) then clearance through customs and freight forwarders before being transported through Warehouses and Distribution Centres to Wholesalers then Retailers to YOU.
The Australian T&L industry employs over 411,000 people directly and indirectly across the nation and generates between 8% to 10% of National GDP. According to industry figures the Australian and New Zealand freight and logistics market is estimated at over $66 billion per annum. With the economic effects of globalisation increasing, declining trade barriers and an increasingly mobile workforce, the T&L industry continues to enjoy above average growth. In Australia it is anticipated that the freight task will double in size over the next 15 years creating significant opportunities for industry participants.
